  • Taking the green flag from near the back of the field, Kirkwood struggled to find momentum at the start of the race, losing a few spots during the opening pit sequence.
  • Kirkwood stayed persistent and continued to move up the field through the first half of the race, eventually running as high 11th by the halfway point of the race.
  • Following the red flag period for inclement weather, Kirkwood capitalized on the restart to stay near the top 10 throughout the second half and closing stages.
  • After making his penultimate pit stop on Lap 179, Kirkwood was shuffled back near the back of the field, and with the untimely caution periods in the final moments of the race, he was not able to break back into the top 10, ultimately finishing 16th.


“We methodically moved up in the race and were running pretty strong for the majority of it. That said, we made a gutsy decision based on the rainy forecast and we went on a strategy we thought would work best for that. Obviously, in the end, it didn’t work out for a few of us. So, I’m a little dejected and wish things could have played out differently for us today.”
